Saturday 3rd September 2011 - 10:43 New Citroen DS5 is a 5 Star car
New Citroen DS5 is a 5 Star car The New Citroën DS5 has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP crash tests, along with an impressive 97% score in the ‘Safety Assist’ category.

The third model in the critically acclaimed DS line, Citroën DS5 boasts dynamic and reassuring road manners, a reinforced body structure and a range of high-performance, protection-enhancing technologies. Safety features include Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Emergency Brake Assist, Intelligent Traction Control, an advanced speed-limiter / cruise control system and a cornering light function.

The strong Euro NCAP safety results were achieved through ‘Créative Technologie’ equipment available exclusively on Citroën DS5, including:
• A new-generation Lane Departure Warning System that ‘reads’ the road using a camera built into the upper part of the windscreen, which alerts drivers when they drift off line.
• An automatic high-beam function that, using images processed from the same camera, activates and deactivates the high-beam setting in line with lighting conditions and surrounding traffic.
• A colour head-up display that shows key driving information - such as speed, speed-limiter / cruise control and navigation system settings - in the driver’s field of vision.

Everyday peace of mind is ensured by innovative services including the Citroën eTouch Emergency & Assistance system, which earned DS5, together with Citroën’s other latest models, the Euro NCAP Advanced award. This accolade is given to innovative systems that ensure the highest safety levels, whilst retaining mass market affordability. The Citroën eTouch system automatically or manually makes emergency or assistance calls, using a built-in SIM card, for precise vehicle localisation and rapid intervention in the event of an accident or if the car is immobilised.
Linda Jackson, Citroën UK’s Managing Director, commented; “Attention to safety is paramount in any Citroën model and we’re delighted that New DS5 has performed so well in the latest Euro NCAP tests. This stunning new car will soon be joining an exciting product line that sets some of the highest standards for safety in their respective classes.”
New Citroën DS5 will make its European premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday 13 September and goes on sale in the UK early in 2012.

Free Fuel On Commercial Vehicles Van buyers who intend to go places will be helped by a spectacular initiative being backed by Freeborn Citroën.

As part of its “Business Class” commitment, Citroën is launching Citroën LCV “Free Fuel for a Year”.

This innovative offer is targeted at the small business and owner / driver sectors, and is available to qualifying customers acquiring a new Citroën LCV by outright purchase, Elect 3 Pro (PCP) or Hire Purchase from 1 September.

Darren Chatterley, Freeborn Citroën’s group sales director, said businesses need to make savings and the Citroën LCV Free Fuel for a Year scheme meets this key business need.

“It enables our business sector customers to not only benefit from some of the most fuel efficient LCVs on the market, but also to have their fuel costs paid for 12 months,” he added.

“Citroën LCV ‘Free Fuel for a Year’ customers will also be able to gain maximum advantage from their free fuel, thanks to the unique Citroën Trafficmaster Smartnav telematics package fitted as standard to Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel vans. This advanced satellite navigation package enables customers to use their free fuel even more efficiently, making it stretch even further.”

The value of the fuel in the Citroën LCV “Free Fuel for a Year” offer equates to 10,000 miles based on the engine with the lowest mpg fitted in the customer’s chosen Citroën LCV model. Thursday 2nd June 2011 - 12:17 ROMAHOME HELPS RIDERS COMFORTABLY SMASH TARGET
ROMAHOME HELPS RIDERS COMFORTABLY SMASH TARGET Taking rest breaks and preparing hot drinks and meals in their Romahome R40 back-up vehicle helped a team of cyclists smash their target.

The six riders were raising funds for Hampshire charity Youth Options and their plan was to ride in relays from John O’Groats to Land’s End in a shorter time than the 82 hours taken by a group of celebrities for Sport Relief last year.

In the end, the Youth Options team, drawn together by Michael Scallan from Yateley, made the trip in a little more than 61 hours despite challenging conditions and tough weather.

“We initially wanted to beat the celebrities’ time but we are thrilled to have been able to smash that time,” explained Mike.

“It was a tough challenge - I know a couple of the guys had to dig really deep to keep going - but we all stuck together and I’m really proud of our achievement.

“Youth Options does really good work with the young people of Hampshire so am pleased to be a little part of making sure that work continues.

“I would also like to say thanks to Freeborn Motorhomes for the loan of a Romahome R40 motorhome from the Romahome Centre in Southampton for the event. It allowed us to get some quality rest time and to make hot drinks and food. We couldn’t have done the trip without it so we’re extremely grateful to them.”

It’s hoped that when all the sponsorship is gathered in, the team of six - Michael Scallan, Chris Allcock from Southampton, Mike Thomsen from Blackwater, Ian Woolner from Deepcut, Aaron Jepp from Aldershot, and Sam Graham from Yateley – will have raised £20,000 for the charity, which delivers a variety of services to under-privileged young people across Hampshire.

Andrew Jones, managing director of Freeborn Group, which manufactures the Romahome range on the Isle of Wight, said, “We have supported Youth Options for many years.

“When the team said what they wanted to achieve I knew that our most practical assistance would be loaning a support vehicle. With its four berths, six passenger seats and economical running costs, The Romahome R40 is ideal for such a long distance team event.

“Families also appreciate its versatility while the ease of driving makes it usable as an everyday car, perfect for today’s economic conditions when everyone wants to save on costs.”
Monday 16th May 2011 - 15:36 Best Citroen Aftersales in The South - Official
Best Citroen Aftersales in The South - Official MILES OF SMILES AS CAR DEALER IS JUDGED THE BEST

Happy customers are the driving force for any successful business.

So for car dealers, who can be up against a significant amount of local competition, to be told that your customers think you are the best has to be really great news.

Southampton-based Freeborn Citroen has just been named the best Citroen dealership in the southern half of England for its aftersales service, the backbone of the relationship with owners for any motoring-based business.

Freeborn, which has dealerships in Winchester, Godalming, and Wokingham as well as Southampton, was established in 1980 and is now among the largest privately-owned Citroen franchises in the UK.

Managing director Andrew Jones said aftersales strength was the most vital aspect of the business as it ensured customers remained happy with their cars or vans and would return for repeat sales.

“Freeborn’s aftersales director, Andy Meader, has been with the company for more than 20 years, always fulfilling that role within the business,” he added.

“As we have expanded and to four car and van dealerships in addition to the Romahome Centre in Southampton, our Freeborn Motorhomes dealership in Godalming, and motorhome and specialist vehicle manufacture on the Isle of Wight, so the pressure for good aftersales service has increased.

“The accolade from Citroen is the result principally of good reports from our customers – we can’t influence the outcome other than providing the best possible service to impress them.
“It’s important as a business grows not to forget that customers remain your most important asset. They love the great car price deals we can offer because our size gives us real buying power but they appreciate even more that we hold each and every one of them in the highest regard.

“The aftersales team has done well to keep its customer focus as its main priority. The success they help bring means we will shortly be announcing expansion plans that I’m confident will lead to an even healthier future for Freeborn Group.”

Friday 11th March 2011 - 10:09 Freeborn Support Youth Options Bike Ride
Freeborn Support Youth Options Bike Ride Freeborn Citroen, which has four car dealerships and two motorhome centres across the South, has agreed to sponsor Hampshire charity Youth Options on its non-stop cycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End in May by donating the use of a motorhome as a support vehicle on the journey.

The team of six cyclists will cycle in tandem continuously from John O’Groats to Lands End, aiming to beat the time of 82 hours set by the celebrities who did it for Sport Relief last year.

The Romahome R40 motorhome from the Romahome Centre in Southampton will be a vital part of the journey as it will enable cyclists to rest for short periods throughout the ride. Mark Dixon, chief executive of Romsey-based Youth Options, said, “We are extremely grateful to Freeborn Citroen for the loan of the motorhome. We really could not complete this challenge without it.”

Freeborn Citroen has long supported the charity, which delivers a variety of services to under privileged children and young people across Hampshire.

Andy Jones, managing director of Freeborn Group, which manufactures the Romahome range on the Isle of Wight, said, “We are delighted to be able to help Youth Options in this event. The charity does great work with children and young people across the county and I wish the team every success for the ride.

“Freeborn Citroen has supported Youth Options for many years and supplying a motorhome for the ride will bring a big benefit for the riders, giving them comfortable rest facilities.”

The event will take place between 5th and 8th May 2011 and hopes to raise £20,000 for Youth Options.

Monday 6th December 2010 - 11:02 Citroen DS3 Award
Citroen DS3 Award SOUTH’S CAR BUYERS INTO
TOP GEAR WITH DS3

Car enthusiasts in the south should not be surprised that TopGear Magazine has made the Citroen DS3 its car of the year.

For the region’s major Citroen dealership, Freeborn Group, has become the largest DS3 retailer in the UK with no sign that enthusiasm for the car is dwindling.

The DS3 saw off competition from both supercar and mainstream manufacturers including Jaguar, Bentley, Honda, Peugeot, Bugatti, Pagani and Koenigsegg to take the sought-after top spot as the overall car of the year at the magazine which sprung out of the BBC television show of the same name, probably the most watched motoring programme on the planet.

TopGear said: “DS3 has pulled off that heady mix of ability, excitement and affordability that’s impossible to ignore. It walks so many fine lines so delicately and so comprehensively that it’s hard to find a chink in the armour. The TopGear Car of the Year is a small, thoughtful, affordable, stylish, fun little hatchback. It’s the people’s champion.”

Darren Chatterley, group sales director at Southampton-based Freeborn, which also has dealerships in Winchester, Wokingham, and Godalming, said the DS3 had been enjoying a fantastic first year on sale, becoming a “must have” across the country but especially here in the south.

“Some people may be surprised at the success of the DS3 when there are so many other stylish small cars to choose from but part of its secret is that it’s not retro. It has appeal, but based on today’s values and not some cloned design from the 60s,” he added.

“The car is also excellent value and continues the Citroen theme of coming up with something different all the time. Freeborn has been selling Citroen cars for 30s years this year and has become the marque’s biggest privately-owned dealership in the UK.

“Like our customers, who just can’t get enough of the DS3, we recognise the ideal blend of looks, performance, and handling that comes with the car, soon to be even more finely tuned with the very hot DS3 Racing before the range expands with the DS4.

“Orders for the DS3 remain strong across all our outlets – after 30 years we have a strong and loyal customer base but the DS3 has brought us significant conquest sales from other brands.”
